About Us

Hello, I’m Shu, a programmer from Japan. I created Sailer in 2025 out of a personal need for a better way to listen to language-learning content on my iPhone.

I enjoy learning languages and often listen to foreign radio programs and dramas on my iPhone. However, I often found it difficult to navigate this kind of long-form audio using standard music players. With short seek bars and no visual hints, finding the right spot in the audio often felt frustrating. There was also no simple way to quickly jump to a specific point or loop a particular section.

While professional waveform editors offer these features, they are designed for editing rather than playback. Their interfaces are often complex and originally built for desktop use, which doesn’t translate well to a gesture-based iPhone experience. I wanted a simple audio player with an intuitive iOS-native interface.

That idea shaped the design of Sailer. In Sailer, the waveform view is not just a visual representation of the audio—it’s a tool you can drag, tap, and swipe to navigate audio and control playback. I believe this approach has worked well.

I’ll continue to improve Sailer and add useful features over time. Feedback is always welcome and greatly appreciated.
